Bob Civak, Senior Vice President, Business Development & Commercialization
He joined the Ontario Centres of Excellence in 1991 as Director, Business Development for the Manufacturing Research Corporation (MRCO), a predecessor of the Centre for Materials and Manufacturing. Earlier in his career, Bob worked in business development, sales and marketing and consulting roles for Tricil Environmental and Petro-Canada. He started his career with Gulf Oil Corporation and served in various capacities over a period of 10 years, including planning, sales, and business assessment. In 1989, Bob was part of a start-up consulting practice, IDG Environmental, which in 1990 was named Small Business of the Year by the Mississauga Chamber of Commerce.
Bob holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University. In addition to being a member of the Board of Directors for the BioDiversity Institute, he is an Advisory Board Member for University of Waterloo’s Centre for Business Entrepreneurship and Technology (CBET), he is also a member of the NSERC Ontario Advisory Committee. In his current role as Senior Vice President at OCE, Bob is responsible for OCE’s Business Development Operations including OCE’s highly regarded and globally recognized asset, the client facing Business Development Team, deployed across the province and responsible for delivery of the OCE program offering. He continues to be a champion for innovation, entrepreneurship and industry / academic collaboration.
