Big data research at the University of Guelph will get even bigger.
The University has joined a collaborative research and development consortium in advanced computing and big data analytics.
The Southern Ontario Smart Computing Innovation Platform (SOSCIP) brings together academic researchers, government and industry leaders to work on advanced computing and “big data” projects with strong potential for commercialization.
Thousands of University of Guelph graduands will cross the stage during 2016 summer convocation ceremonies June 13-17.
Several faculty members and students will receive awards for teaching, service and academic achievement as more than 3,400 graduands cross the stage.
Top faculty awards will be presented to professor emeritus Maurice Nelischer, School of Environmental Design and Rural Development, and Prof. David Wolyn, Department of Plant Agriculture.
The University of Guelph has a new road map to guide planning for the months and years ahead.
The strategic renewal framework was unanimously approved by the Board of Governors June 3 and the University’s Senate June 1.
“This was a community effort and a hugely rewarding process,” said president Franco Vaccarino.
